ABOUT MATTEO:

Originally from Italy, Matteo has travelled the world kitesurfing and knows a thing or two about the sport.

Completing his kitesurfing instructor qualifications in 2017 in Canary Island, Spain, Matteo has heaps of experience instructing. He ran his own kite school in Zanzibar in 2019/20 before coming to Safety Bay to do a season with WA SURF. Once that season was over, he packed up his kites and hit as many kitespots around Australia as he could, returning to Safety Bay again and we’re stoked to have him back for another season.

For Matteo, there is so much to love about this eco-friendly sport – the feeling of going high and being free, the contact with the natural elements, the wind and the water, and the flexibility of the sport, being able to kite to the conditions the day throws at you.

His advice for people thinking of giving kitesurfing a go?
“If you want to disconnect your mind from the normal world and connect with nature, do it!”
