ABOUT CRISTIANA:
Meet Cristiana, one of our passionate kitesurfing instructors for the 2023/24 season. Originally from the stunning island of Sardinia, Italy, Cristiana fell in love with kitesurfing 3 years ago during her time working near a kite spot on the picturesque Caribbean Island of Martinique. Inspired to give our awesome sport a go, she returned to Sardinia and completed a comprehensive kitesurfing course to further develop her skills. A natural at the sport, Cristiana competed in her first kitesurfing competition in Western Australia last season, taking out first place and earning herself the title of ‘Queen of the Pond’
Cristiana's preferred discipline of kitesurfing is freeride, although she is also moving into big air and honing her kite loops. Embracing the challenges of kitesurfing, Cristiana is constantly pushing her own boundaries to achieve new heights and progress further.
Becoming an instructor wasn't initially on Cristiana’s radar. While working as a kite school manager in Zanzibar, Cristiana often found herself interacting with students in the water. She quickly realised that she loved seeing the students’ progress and joining in their enjoyment of the sport so when she arrived in Perth, Western Australia, she decided to complete her kitesurfing instructor course through Kiteboarding Australia. Cristiana now teaches all levels of kitesurfing, from beginners looking to learn the basics to advanced riders who want to progress.
Cristiana’s advice for those just starting out in kitesurfing: Never give up when faced with the initial obstacles learning a new sport throws at you. Learning to kitesurf can be filled with ups and downs but keep on working towards achieving your goals, it is worth it!
