Style: Freeride / Big Air / Wave
One of the original Perth kitesurfers, Rob Gannon took up kiting back in 2000 when the sport first came to Perth. Eager for the challenge, Rob did some research into kitesurfing gear, found the 2-line leading edge inflatable kites on the market and, after a lot of trial and error (and a lot of swimming!), Rob taught himself to kitesurf and has been an avid kiter ever since.
Loving the freedom that comes with being out on the water with a kite, and the
exhilaration of big winds, Rob lives for the opportunity ride waves, or get out for some big air and work on his kite loops. Winds under 20 knots? Not interested. 25 knots upwards? You will more than likely see Rob out there making the most of it.
Rob has been riding Reedin for the last few years and can’t imagine changing back to another brand. The Reedin Supermodel is the most dynamic kite he has used, it rips you off the water when boosting, but still catches you easily after a loop for a gentle landing. As for boards, Rob can’t go past the Reedin Kev Pro Twin Tips for wave riding, the SuperWave for the bigger waves and the NoBrainer for the Perth wind waves.
