Windsurfing Lessons in Safety Bay, Perth (click here for hire only)

Safety Bay is a favourite spot for WA locals to catch the summer seabreeze. It offers both flat protected waters for learning and blasting, to open ocean runs between the picturesque islands, all in a beautiful, constant and steady seabreeze. The locals are friendly and plentiful with the Safety Bay Windsurfing Club boasting 85 active members.

We run windsurfing lessons and hire all summer long at Safety Bay, Rockingham just 40 minutes' drive South of Perth.  All equipment is included during our lessons, excluding wetsuits which can be hired for just $10 per session.

Windsurfing Lessons

These are currently running Saturday mornings 10am - 12pm and Wednesday afternoons 1pm - 3pm.

Beginners Lessons  $80

The latest ultra wide F2 learners boards with specially designed beginners, ladies and kids rigs will get you sailing in no time.

Beginners Courses  $240

If you want to become a competent windsurfer, we recommend 4 of our 2 hour courses to get you on your way.  

Full Day Clinics: Beginners $130 per day

For those wanting a total immersion course and to progress quickly in superb conditions.  We base this upon 2 hours of lessons plus 2 hours (or more) of hire each day. Available Saturdays only over Autumn and Winter.

Zero to Hero Course  $400

4 fantastic days of our full-day beginners clinics at a super rate.  This will get you well on the way to competent windsurfing. Book now for next season.

Intermediate/Advanced Lessons  $80

Want to learn to beach start, gybe or even forward loop?  Our master instructors will show you how.  Lessons are 1.5 hours in length.  Adjust Qty Units if more than 1.5 required when purchasing.

Full Day Clinics: Intermediate/Advanced $200 per day

Want to perfect that gybe or learn how to loop?  We run these courses as "clinics" and will assess your skills and weaknesses. Based roughly upon 4 hours of water time each day, but more if conditions permit.

Intermediate/Advanced 4 Day Workshop  $600

4 full days of our advanced clinic.  This will take your sailing to a whole new level!  Expert instruction on the latest gear. Available from 01/11/08 to 15/03/09.

Private Lessons  $70 per hour, all levels

Generally available at any time with sufficient notice.  Adjust Qty Units if more than 1 hour required when purchasing.

Group Lessons  $40 per hour, all levels

If you can’t make it in the morning and have a group of just 2 or more, book us anytime for just $40 per person per hour, for a minimum of 2 hours. 

Windsurfing Hire

Beginners Equipment Hire

Our equipment can be hired out at $25 per hour, or $80 for the full day.   Bookings are required.  Our hire is fully inclusive of board, and harness. Wetsuits can be hired for just $10 per session.

Advanced Equipment Hire

$50 per hour or $160 for the full day.  Bookings required.  We stock the latest JP Boards and Neil Pryde sails.  Our hire is fully inclusive of board, and harness. Wetsuits can be hired for just $10 per session.

Kids Club

After completing a course with us, 8-17 year olds can purchase 2 hours of supervised hire from 11am til 1pm for just $30.

School & Corporate Groups

Our combined Kite and Windsurfing days can cater for large numbers and are very popular.  Call for details.

School Groups

WA Surf is firmly committed to the development of young athletes of any skill level and has heavily discounted packages for school groups and child care centres.

Perth is a world-class windsurfing location - boasting Australia's biggest windsurfing club - making windsurfing the perfect sport for local schools.

We are extremely keen to get schools involved in windsurfing. During the school terms, we bring our trailer up to Perth and conduct lessons for schools out of safe locations such as the Applecross foreshore and Deep Water Point. Although these are our main operating spots, we can run lessons at any safe spot on the Swan River to suit the needs of the school.

We can handle class sizes of up to 24 students. All of our staff are Yachting Australia accredited, have a current Working with Children check and have years of experience teaching children.

We understand that these windsurfing classes are usually integrated into an Outdoor Education class, so we have a Marking Guide which our staff can help with to assess the skills of the students towards the end of the course.

Australian Sports Commission Funding for your After-school group

The Active After-school Communities (AASC) is an after-school hours sports programme that aims to improve the health and well being of Australia’s primary school aged children through structured physical activity. It is being delivered nationally to Australian primary schools and Childcare Benefit approved Out of School Hour Care Services.

WA Surf is actively involved with Australian Sports Commission and their excellent Active After-school Communities Programme whereby the Commission fully funds sporting activities for Primary Schoool aged children.  Our rates are as per the School Groups rates above but the government will fund the entire amount should you apply.  For funding details, contact the Australian Sports Commission Regional Coordinator on 9492 9847.
