Having a great location and conditions makes all the difference to your Kitesurfing experience, especially during the learning phase. Here at WA Surf we believe we have the best possible location in Perth for learning to Kitesurf, and progressing into the harder stuff. We run kiting lessons and hire all year round, at Safety Bay or on the Swan River between Perth and Fremantle. During the summer months, we have the only permanent Kitesurfing school in the Perth area and are open seven days a week, giving you full access to suit your availability.

WA Surf is one of only three IKO-accredited Kiteboarding Centres in Perth as well as being Yachting Australia certified. For your additional peace of mind, we are one of the very few schools in Australia who don't use an overseas insurer, having an APRA (Australian Prudential Regulation Authority) local insurer. Always ask your kite school if they have public liability insurance.

We use a huge size range (from 1.8m² to 15m²) of the latest kites for our lessons, chosen for their performance and learner-friendly characteristics. After completing your lessons and getting an IKO card, we can help you out with hire or gear purchase. Fantastic packages incorporating kite, board and harness, either new or second-hand, are now available for our customers. All equipment (excluding wetsuit which can be hired for just $10 per session) is provided for each lesson. After the first lesson on land, there are 1 or only 2 students per instructor.

Introduction to Kiting  $130 for 1^1/2 hours 

The most important kite lesson you will ever do. This is the safety and technical side of Kite Flying. Using IKO guidelines we teach you correct rigging up, wind window, correct assessment of conditions, kite flying, release systems, launching and landing, emergency pack downs and self-rescue. This lesson is done on the land with special training kites and gives you a strong foundation for moving onto a four-line traction kite. From here you can go onto Lesson 2 and straight into the more powerful stuff in the water.

Lesson 2, Body Dragging  $200 for 2 hours

Now the fun really starts. In this lesson you really learn how to handle the power of a modern four-line kite. We start off with body dragging downwind through the water flying the kite on all angles and quickly progress to one handed flying, and even tacking upwind without a board. Once competent at this level it is then time to move onto your first water starts with a board.

Lesson 3, Board Skills  $250 for 2^1/2 hours

By the 3rd lesson, you should have accrued enough flying time for us to be confident that you are ready for the first water starts on the board. We have found that allowing 2^1/2 hours for this lesson gives you a better chance to grasp the concept and get more time and practice at the hardest part of the whole process.
Following this lesson, most people are then competent enough to hire equipment off us or any IKO school. 

Zero to Hero discounted package  $550 for 6 hours

A fantastically discounted package containing the above three lessons. This is what we highly recommend to get you safely on your way. You are welcome to do these at your own schedule. Lessons 1 and 2 can be completed in one day with a long lunch break.

Holiday Combination Packages
